Off to Townsville
This morning was very early for me. Sid had friends over for the weekend and they all went out drinking. I stayed back to do laundry and get ready for my trip. At 3am as I was finishing up packing, they arrived back, but it wasn't all that bad. I got up at 6:45 as I had to be down at reception by 8:00am for my shuttle to the Airport.
The arrival at the airport and check-in were painless. However, I am a little concerned that I was able to get on the plane without ever showing ID. I checked-in online. When I arrived at the airport, I showed my boarding pass and gave them my one bag I was checking. From there, I proceeded to the plane and got on. Strange for someone in the US. Another oddity was that the plane was boarded from the back and front. People in rows 13 to 24 were asked to take the stairs on the jetway (aerobridge) down to the tarmac and board using an open movable stairway at the back of the plane. I thought it was fun, but I do prefer the jetway.
When I arrived at Townsville, I found the airport to be almost identical to Flint Bishop. This made it extremely easy for me to navigate. Also, the airport is half civilian and half military. I thought this is a smart use of resources.
I took a shuttle out to James Cook University to meet up with Theresa. I was glad to see here. That night, we went grocery shopping to get all the stuff we wanted to eat that weekend. This meant a 30 minute bike ride each way. I was tired when we got back from the ride and carrying all the groceries.
How I almost died today:
1. Exhaustion from the bike ride back to campus with tons of groceries.
2. Stopped breathing as my allergies were acting up
